Web-based, data-driven prediction tools
Personal GDM
These evidence based tools are provided by Monash University and the Monash Center for Health Research and Implementation (MCHRI). They are decision support tools for health care professionals and women affected by gestational diabetes.
About Us
Our Inspiration
Why consider evaluating risk of GDM?
Up to 30% in high risk groups and has increased nearly 6x since 1980.
It causes risks for both the mother and the baby, but consequences can often be controlled with dietary modification and/or insulin therapy.
The patients can be diagnosed by one single test - but disease severity is variable, not all patients require the same level of care.
Costs in a pregnancy can go up to 25% higher (avg ~ AU$10,500 per birth) than normal.
Our Solution
A web-based, data-driven prediction tool
A web tool accessible to all levels of technological literacy, on as many devices as possible.
Returns an individualised estimate of risk, and allows communication of risk in simple language and visualisation.
Allows greater capacity for shared decision making in the clinic, empowering women by helping them be better informed.
Impact of our solution
Personal GDM
These tools have the potential to reduce costs associated with greater than necessary care at maternity services.
Enable the risk-stratified care - minimising the greater than necessary care given to patients who may be of lower risk levels, save costs for patients and facilities.
Help reduce a significant burden on the health-care system by helping better allocate resources.

Research
These evidence based tools are designed to be used by healthcare providers together with pregnant women who are or may be affected by gestational diabetes. They are used to calculate the probability of (1) developing gestational diabetes, (2) the risk of an individual woman affected by gestational diabetes to experience an adverse pregnancy outcome and (3) the combined risk of developing gestational diabetes, hypertension or both.
